What is Isolation?

Generally, the word isolation means removing something or people from other things or people. However, in terms of health, the word isolation means the technique of removing patients from healthy individuals in order to prevent the spread of the disease. Social isolation can be voluntary or mandatory in coronavirus pandemic.

Anyone who shows signs of COVID-19 needs to isolate himself. If your symptoms are not severe, it is recommended to isolate yourself at home. Symptoms include: over 37.8 fever, cough, and difficulty breathing. If you share your home with family or friends and show signs of COVID-19, you need to isolate yourself inside your home. If you live alone, it is recommended to stay at home for 7 days from the appearance of symptoms. So if symptoms also occur in people you live with, the whole house needs to be applied for 14 days.

Social distance or isolation is one of the most effective methods to reduce the spread rate of the COVID-19 outbreak. Individuals who do not show symptoms even though they carry the virus and think that they are healthy can infect healthy and more vulnerable individuals if they continue their normal life. The World Health Organization recommends keeping 1 to 2 meters away from people if you have to leave the house. Since we fight against an “enemy” that is not visible, if we voluntarily isolate the symptoms even if we do not have the symptoms, we can prevent the virus from spreading to more people!
